Mmmm...portuguese tarts

Aren't they just delicious!!! I certainly had a few while we were in Portugal.

We somehow got really cheap business class tickets for the two and a half hour flight to Lisbon. Lily enjoyed her first business class seat!

We spent two nights in a luxurious hotel in Lisbon with a six foot wide bed - just heaven (great last minute find on wotif) and went for a walk around town but unfortunately the only day we had in Lisbon was a Sunday so all of the shops were closed which was nice since it was quieter but the major downfall was that Lily and I could not do any shopping! The hotel was conveniently located opposite one of our favourite stores, Zara, so we made a quick dash over there on Monday morning before driving north to Peniche to meet up with the Johnstons.

Lily is just like her dad....their favourite time is relaxing in front of the telly.

Spent the rest of the week in Balael which is a coastal spot known for its surfing about an hour from Lisbon. Murph had a great time and really enjoyed the surf and Lily and I enjoyed sitting under a nice big shady umbrella on the beach. Although she did keep trying to eat the sand so I am taking this as a sign that she may be ready for solids! Lily enjoyed her first big day at the beach, since it was way too cold at home. There was one hilarious day where it was low tide when we arrived and then the tide started to creep up the shore so we had to move all of our stuff in rather a hurry and then ten minutes later we scrambled what we could, including a screaming Lily (who was near histerics from the shock of it all) to try and save what we could from the tide. Candice and I were literally sitting there watching the wave come in saying 'no, it's not going to come this far' and then all of a sudden our belongings were being soaked with the tide. Very funny to see groups of people with all their stuff scooped up in their arms running up the beach! Even funnier since we were one of them!

There was good surf and all the boys caught some great waves and it has even inspired my next christmas present for Michael - a new surfboard!

We stayed at a small hotel which was basically a big house and between the Johnstons and the Burkes we had the whole house to ourselves which was great.
Joao, Pedro and Laura treated us to a wonderful bbq with loads of meat so luckily none of us were vegetarians.

Surfcastle - it was such a great location - sitting on the balcony watching the boys surf directly in front of the house

I can touch my toes...and I can even suck my toes now too! (we're so proud...she is so talented)
